Being one of the top institutions in the nation for studying economics, the Department of Economics has made a name for itself as a center of learning where economics is taught differently. Department offers undergraduate and research program with an impressive faculty history and victorious alumni. The department also offers JOC for civil service Examination.

Planning Forum is an integral part of the Economics Department. The forum stimulates the minds of students in economic principles and models, national governance through activities like budget analysis, commemoration of significant days in the fields of economics, social and financial importance, awareness programmes through documentaries, survey on economic, social, financial and environmental issues, guest lectures, adjunct lectures, workshops, seminars, debates, quiz, group discussions, poster designing competition, and essay writing etc. These activities help the students enrich their decision making capabilities, general knowledge, leadership and management skills, research aptitudes and also provide multidimensional exposure to take up careers in the field of academic, corporate, administration and entrepreneurship.
